For the second part of Karissa + Jamin's couple's session, they wanted to celebrate one of their favorite things to do together - music festivals! They actually met and fell in love at a festival so shooting part of their session in their festival outfits was an absolute must.
Read MoreHave you ever had so much to say that you end up speechless? That’s me right now trying to write about Alaina and Jared and this epic adventure we had together.
The day started out with this sweet couple getting ready together at a VRBO on Lake Sutherland with their fur baby Dingo (so much love for couple’s who get ready together on their wedding day!), then we headed over to the Olympic National Park where the cutest wedding crashers decided to join the ceremony (scroll down to see what I mean), then set off on a wondrous little ridge to pop some champagne (multiple bottles might I add) and their first dance as husband and wife, and some sunset portraits. We ended the evening with an unexpected “grand exit” photo, aka me slamming on my breaks a mile down the mountain, and making them jump out of the car for a final wedding kiss in front of their headlights!
This day was so full of love and bliss. The joy these two felt about marrying each other made me smile like a giddy little kid the whole drive home. Thank you Jared and Alaina for letting me tag along and witness your amazing love!
Read MoreTwo of the sweetest people on the planet. I was taken back by the love I got to witness this night. Also, who knew Washington could look like Las Vegas? If you haven't been to Frenchman Coulee, it's an absolute most-see. Especially if you're a climber!
Read MoreWhen I was in Barcelona a few months ago, I had the privilege of photographing these two and we had such a wonderful morning strolling along the Platja and exploring the nearby streets. They were so playful, kind, and friendly, and even let us in on the coolest local spots for photography! Nothing like going to a new places and getting to photograph local couples. Thank you Majo and Xavi for a great morning!
Read MoreThis styled photoshoot is themed on the My Favorite Murder podcast with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. If you haven't listened to it, just scroll through the pretty pictures and don't think too much about it - or go listen and come back and it will make a lot more sense! I discovered this podcast around the beginning of this year and by episode two, I was hooked.
I've always been very interested in true crime and crime fiction. One of my favorite shows when I was a kid was CSI, and for a little while I thought that made me a weirdo, but it was always so interesting to me! When I discovered MFM I realized true crime was not such a strange interest after all and that I am in very good company. So here's some wedding inspiration for all my fellow murderinos! #SSDGM
p.s. there are tons of hidden references and symbols from the show, so if you recognize any of them, head down to the comments and point them out!!!
Read MoreThese two had a beautiful, intimate little wedding at the Washington Park Arboretum, inspired by their favorite Wes Anderson films! Danielle + Scott are both in the military and love the outdoors! Their first date was kayaking and they got engaged at the summit of Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone National Park! They were so fun to work with it was so amazing to be able to witness their special day!
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Mucci!
Read MoreThis love story is one that hits me right in the feels. The way these two look at each other (and their sweet little dude) just makes me so grateful to have witnessed their big day! Sam and Jorgen vowed forever at Kiana Lodge in Poulsbo, WA, in February 2018. It was a frigid day that started off with a light snow and ended with a lot of cold wind, but they didn't let the weather stop them from enjoying the best day ever!
Samantha is originally from Los Angeles and Jorgen is from Alaska. They met in North Carolina in 2012 and say they almost immediately knew they'd stay together forever. Jorgen is in the military and is a special forces guy, which is what brought them to Washington. Sam has a wonderful little boy who Jorgen has raised from when he was ten months old, and they're inseparable.
Jorgen deployed only a couple weeks after their wedding day and I just have so much respect for these two and other military families who are apart for such long periods of time but still make it work and put each other first.
Congratulations Jorgen + Samantha and thank you for letting me document your love!
Read MoreI am a strong believer that if you are not progressing, then you are regressing - which is why I am constantly investing my time and money into education and practice.
One of my favorite things about photography is that you can ALWAYS KEEP LEARNING. You can never know everything there is to know. There will always be new techniques, new ways to see and play with light, and countless other ways to grow and expand your skill sets. We all have our own little niches and I really love to get mentoring from other photographers who I think have their "niche" truly mastered. Yesterday I got schooled by another photographer in the area who is absolutely incredible in working with an urban setting and harsh or dramatic lighting. We strolled around Belltown and shot these two incredible people, and by the end I truly felt like I was seeing things in a totally new way. Such a great opportunity.
Here are a few of my favorite shots from our downtown adventure!
Read MoreRunning around Rattlesnake Lake with Kelli and Wade this February morning was such an enjoyable way to to start the day. These two just moved to the Seattle area not even a week before our session! They were so sweet to each other and have a love that kept them warm despite this being one of the coldest days of the year!
They met on a dating app called "hinge" in the quaint little town of Thomasville, GA! Kelli was in graduate school at Florida State University and Wade was working at Ft. Benning, GA. They met up for lunch, which turned into coffee, which turned into happy hour, dinner, a local concert, and drinks. Needless to say they really hit it off! Wade deployed overseas two dates later for 6 months and they face-timed and wrote letters! When he got back to the states, Kelli picked him up from the airport and 6 months later they were engaged!
Congratulations you two! I'm so glad to have met you!

Read MoreAshley + Peter are one of my amazing Fall 2018 couples and I am so psyched for their wedding. For their engagement session, we first stopped at their favorite little coffee shop in Olympia, then took a little road trip over to the coast and explored Ruby Beach. Despite the golden rays of sunshine in the photos, it was actually FREEZING and they were such troopers sticking it out so we could get some bangers.
These two killed it and I'm so excited to share this engagement session with you all!
Read MoreRylie and Ryan's wedding was honestly one of the most beautiful wedding days I have ever witnessed - both in aesthetic, and in soul. No really, the souls of these too. I could feel the love and warmth all day long. Rylie and Ryan had a very short engagement - they just could not wait to be husband and wife - and the way everything came together in just a couple short months made it clear that this marriage was just meant to be. The couple and their creative families DIY'd many of the details of the day, including the florals which Rylie's mother did herself!
The two started the day getting ready in bride and groom suites at The Ravington, a rabbit's feet factory turned wedding venue. One of the most memorable events of the morning was the emotional moment Rylie spent with her Maid of Honor (aka her mother) as she helped her into her dress and gifted her a new charm for a necklace Rylie had been wearing for years. Then everyone headed over to the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, where they opted not to do a first look, but rather to make each other (and everyone else in the room) bawl as they saw each other for the first time in their wedding attire, when Rylie walked down the aisle with her father. The emotion and love in the room as the Rylie and Ryan vowed to love each other forever was almost tangible. They concluded the ceremony with songs of praise joined in by their audience of dear friends and family. After some portraits and alone time, Rylie and Ryan headed back to The Ravington, where their loved ones awaited them with a hot meal, moving toasts, and the dance party of a lifetime.
Congratulations to the newest Mr. and Mrs. McPeak!
